Glass Product Photography Tip #3: Use a Black Background
A classic and elegant glassware shot is one with a black background. I'm sure you've seen understated photos where all that stands out is the edge of the glass.
Black ground photos create a more inviting and mysterious feel to the traditional white background product photography we are used to. Photographers usually default to white backgrounds, so why not try something different?
You must use backlighting: place the glassware in front of the softbox and place the black cardboard between the subject and the softbox. When you fire your flash, the light will wrap around the cardboard and illuminate the edges of the glass.
