Glass Product Photography Tip 3: Creative use of hard light
While catalog images and product photography require soft light to show glass objects clearly and crisply, other types of photography, lifestyle photography, require some creativity and a personal touch.
For example, in food photography, you can add shadows of the glass to build the composition. This can make for some interesting shots, especially if the glass is filled with colorful liquids.
To really get great results from hard shadows, you need to make sure you consider the basic principles. First, the closer the light source is to the object, the larger the shadow, and vice versa.
Second, consider directionality. If the light source is at a smaller angle relative to the object, the longer the shadow will be, and vice versa.
