Glass Product Photography Tip #2: Use Backlighting
Use a softbox on the side
Although using a backlight is the easiest way to photograph glass, it may "flatten" the glass object. To solve this problem, you can use a side light.
When you place lights on the sides of glass objects, you will see their reflections. For example, if you use a light bulb, you will see a circular hot spot.
If you want to create elegant lines that fit the shape of the glassware - whether it's a champagne glass or a wine bottle - you need to use a softbox.
